This is an 8 part BBC World News TV series about the world record of a group of Imperial College students from London who succeeded to drive the first electric car along the entire 26,000km long Pan-American Highway from Alaska to Argentina.
Between July 2009 and March 2010 they converted a petrol based Radical SR-8 racingcar into an electric supercar, the Radical SR-Zero. With 400 horse power, a top speed of up to 200km/h and a range of over 500km at an average speed of 90km/h the SR-Zero is currently the best electric car in the world and is used to change the public perception about electric vehicles. The Racing Green team wants to show that electric transport is no longer slow and boring but it can be very fast, powerful and sexy.
The Racing Green expedition started in Alaska on the 3rd of July 2010 and came to a successful conclusion in Argentina on the 16th of November 2010.
BBC World News started to broadcast an 8 part TV series on the 1st of January 2011 and from March 2011 onwards the whole series will be available on DVD.
